I Never Looked Back

Story Of Hope By Anne Shuck
I never looked back

I dealt with addiction my whole life.  First it was anorexia, then weed and speed.  It escalated to narcotics: cocaine, heroin, freebase.  When I was 33, I finally realized if something didn’t change – and change fast – I was going to be a good looking corpse.  A well educated nurse in San Francisco saw what I was and helped me.  Another counsellor saw what I was and steered me to my first Narcotics Anonymous meeting.  I’ve never looked back.  My life is totally different now.  It hasn’t been all that easy, but my life is mine.  I’ll have 29 years clean and sober next week.
