The fact that you are reading this means you are probably looking for help. I will be completely honest, if you are just getting sober, or trying to get sober and you are feeling mentally worse than before, YOU ARE RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE!
I stopped drinking August 17th, 2010 and I was only 22 years old at the time. I was a senior in college and the people around me most certainly were not staying sober. But after many years of destroying myself and those around me, I decided to do it. My first year was a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs but I pushed through. It isnt all smiles and roses in the beginning, it will seem worse, but it isnt. You probably wont be able to sleep, probably wont be able to go to certain places for a long time, and most important you cannot hang around those who you drank or used with!
Don't drink, and go to meetings, that saved my life. I am almost 4 years sober and I could not be more grateful, but I am only 26, and I have to do this for a long time, so I need to stay constantly aware that this is the life I have now chosen. Being sober means you cannot put anything mind altering into your body unless a doc tells you to!
Good luck and stay strong.
