Benefits of Working with the Partnership for a Drug-Free America

The Partnership works closely with corporations, foundations, associations and other organizations to develop public education communication campaigns that accomplish our partners’ strategic objectives while enhancing our programs to help people live healthy, drug-free lives.

We can offer your organization the opportunity to become a leader on a major issue that resonates deeply with parents and other caregivers, teens, educators, health professionals, and entire communities.

The Partnership provides expertise in creating ground-breaking public education campaigns and in social marketing and consumer attitude research. With our media know-how and reputation as the country’s leading public education organization on this issue, we can help your company/organization achieve lifelong loyalty among target audiences through a high-profile contribution to reducing substance abuse.

Why contribute to our efforts to prevent and reduce the misuse of drugs?

  • Adults rank drug use as the most important problem facing teens today
  • Drug abuse ranks with the Iraq war as the chief concern of young people
  • Drug abuse costs businesses $78 billion every year in lost productivity
  • The impact of drugs on many social issues -- crime, violence, domestic and sexual abuse, educational failure, healthcare costs, HIV & AIDS, accidents and injuries -- make drug use the single greatest preventable health problem facing our country.

Why partner with the Partnership?

Cited by The New York Times as “one of the most effective drug prevention organizations in the US", the Partnership was selected in June 2004 as one of 13 organizations worldwide to receive the prestigious Discovery Health Channel’s Medical Honors award for its extraordinary contributions to world health. Since 1987, when we began our groundbreaking media campaign to tell the truth about drugs and their consequences, the use of illicit drugs has fallen by more than 32%, equaling 7.4 million fewer drug users.

We also operate at a high level of efficiency. With our annual budget of $10.7 million, we achieve an annual impact on the drug problem estimated at $368 million in media support. Through our 45+ city and state alliances, we reach almost 90% of the nation’s households with ads that respond to local drug issues.

How can your organization work with the Partnership?

Educating through the media

You can leverage the reach, expertise and talent of the Partnership by sponsoring educational programs that use TV and radio advertising, print and the Web to reach parents and teens with memorable messages on the dangers of drugs and the benefits of living drug-free.

Co-branding & Marketing

Your organization can establish a highly visible cause-marketing relationship with the Partnership that engages target audiences through emotionally relevant programs supported by creative advertising. Collaborating with the Partnership on proprietary marketing programs can help you attain your goals while increasing communication and education about drug use.

Sponsoring Local Events

Local event sponsorship can reinforce your organization’s visibility and commitment to helping at the grassroots level. Direct interaction in community settings — including town hall meetings where concerned citizens develop local responses to the drug issue — can help create an emotional bond with consumers that resonates far beyond the chosen venue.
