the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids is thrilled to welcome award-winning TV personality, chef, food writer and father Andrew Zimmern for the return of our “Meet The Parents Hour,” a popular, LIVE Facebook Chat and Q&A session on Thursday, February 2 at 12 p.m. EST/ 9 a.m. PST.
During the hour, Andrew will share his personal story and path to recovery and offer encouragement to others who may be struggling with a loved one’s addiction.
Andrew is a popular chef, writer and teacher and is regarded as one of the most versatile and knowledgeable personalities in the food world. As the co-creator, host and consulting producer of Travel Channel’s hit series “Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern” and “Andrew Zimmern’s Bizarre World,” he travels the world, exploring food and international cuisine.
In Andrew’s own words as he celebrates 20 years of recovery:
“I am an alcoholic and an addict. I started using when I was 13 years old and drugs and alcohol were pretty easy to access. And ultimately it took losing everything, my family, my friends, my status until I progressively hit bottom.”
“If you are an addict or an alcoholic or you interact regularly with one, everyone should remember that recovery is 100 percent available to anybody who is open to the idea of it. You don’t need to get sober on your own. It’s a ‘we’ disease and the solution is a ‘we’ solution. Talk about it, seek help because recovery is really available for everybody.”
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to chat live with Andrew and hear from others touched by substance abuse.
Joining the LIVE discussion is easy. It will take place within the comment thread under Andrew’s photo on the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids’s Facebook wall. Please make sure to REFRESH YOUR BROWSER THROUGHOUT THE CHAT to view all the latest comments and questions.
