The People Behind Our New, Bilingual Parents Toll-Free Helpline
This September, we launched our Parents Toll-Free Helpline (1-855-DRUGFREE or 1-855-378-4373), a nationwide bilingual support service offering assistance to parents and other primary caregivers who want to talk to someone about their child’s drug use and drinking.
The helpline is staffed by Parent Specialist Johanna Bos, LCSW CASC, who addresses questions about prevention, intervention, treatment, recovery, drug trends and more.
“Parents ask us questions like, ‘I just found out my teen is using marijuana; what should I do?’ Some parents call wondering if calling the cops on their kids or kicking their child out of the house is their only option,” said Bos. “We answer these types of questions and provide callers with guidance and hope.”
The Parents Toll-Free Helpline is staffed between the hours of 10:00 am and 6:00 pm ET. Learn more about the helpline here.
Watch and Share This Powerful Video on Addiction
Addiction is a disease that does not discriminate; it affects every race, gender and socio-economic class. It knows no limits or boundaries and it impacts nearly 85 million Americans. Unfortunately, the stigma and shame that so often surround drug and alcohol addiction prevents many from getting the help they need.
Together with Director Pamela Hanson, Moo Studios and Consulate Film Editing, the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids developed a brief, yet poignant, documentary video highlighting the true stories of people who have faced teen addiction. Those featured speak candidly about their experience with substance abuse – some are in recovery themselves, others have helped friends or family members recover and some have lost loved ones to the disease.
Watch the video and share with friends, as it helps shed light on a disease that is too often kept in the dark.
New, Free Podcast: Teen Prescription and Over-the-Counter Medicine Abuse

A recent podcast, presented by CIGNA and the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids, explored today’s changing landscape of substance abuse, with a focus on teen abuse of prescription and over-the-counter drugs, as well as some measures parents can take to prevent this dangerous behavior.
