Actor and Author Melissa Gilbert Helps Lead The Partnership at Drugfree.org’s 25th Anniversary Luncheon
Last week, our national spokesperson Melissa Gilbert joined us for an intimate discussion in celebration of our 25th anniversary and shared her own experiences with substance abuse. Melissa is an actor, author and mother of four who recently celebrated seven years in recovery.
Attendees of the luncheon included representatives from women’s and parenting magazines, as well as health and mommy bloggers. Our President and CEO Steve Pasierb and founding member Tom Hedrick provided an overview of the teen drug abuse problem and discussed the steps parents can take to be part of the solution.
“We are honored that Melissa not only joined us on Wednesday, but spoke candidly about her own experiences with addiction,” said Tom. “Not only is she comfortable sharing her story to help others understand the issue, but she is willing to do whatever it takes to educate people about the need for action. Prevention begins with parents, and Melissa’s commitment to our cause aids us in accomplishing our mission to help parents prevent, intervene in and find treatment for drug and alcohol use by their children.”
We thank Melissa for being a passionate advocate of our cause and are grateful to those who attended our 25th Anniversary Luncheon.
