Medications Development for Substance Related Disorders
The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) will award grants of up to $1 million each to support “a diverse array of preclinical and/or clinical research projects that accelerate the translational discovery/development of safe and effective medications for the treatment of substance-related disorders, with the ultimate goal of moving closer to, or gaining FDA approval of medications for the treatment of these disorders.”
A total of $10 million in funding is available to nonprofits, schools, government entities, tribes, for-profit organizations, and others.
Application deadline is April 29.

Medications Development for Polydrug Addiction Treatment
The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) will award $3 million for research on developing medications to help treat individuals with addictions to multiple substances, including alcohol, tobacco, prescription drugs and illicit drugs.
The Medications Development for Polydrug Addiction Treatment grants will be made under the R01 and R21 research funding protocols. “Novel proposals for clinical or preclinical testing of potential medications, as well as relevant animal model development and medicinal chemistry efforts are encouraged,” according to NIDA.
Four to seven grants are expected to be made.
Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis. Eligible applicants include nonprofits, schools, governments, and others. For more information, see the grant announcements at the links above.
