Meet Dr. Drew

In January 2008, Dr. Drew and VH1 teamed up for the reality television series “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew” and “Celebrity Rehab Reunion” which showed the process of overcoming addiction. Both were ratings successes.

Dr. Drew is the host
Dr. Drew Pinsky
of two nationally syndicated radio shows -- “Loveline,” where he has been taking calls from listeners since 1982, and “Dr. Drew Live,” which began airing on KGIL in 2008.

Dr. Drew is an internist and board certified in addiction medicine, is Medical Director for the Department of Chemical Dependency Services at Las Encinas Hospital in Pasadena, California, still runs a private practice, and is Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Keck USC School of Medicine.

Using the media to deliver information about addiction, sex and relationships, Dr. Drew has appeared on many TV shows -- including the Today Show, the Tyra Banks Show, CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, Jimmy Kimmel, Craig Ferguson, Conan O’Brien and Chelsea Lately. He has guest hosted Larry King Live, has been featured in Rolling Stone Magazine and was profiled in Playboy Magazine.

Dr. Drew is the author of two books. Cracked: Putting Broken Lives Together Again (HarperCollins) is about his experience treating people with addictions. His second book The Mirror Effect: How Celebrity Narcissism is Seducing America (HarperCollins) will be released in October 2008.

With a colleague at the University of Southern California, Dr. Drew co-authored the first academic study on celebrities and narcissism. The study, which received world-wide press coverage, was published in the Journal of Research in Personality (Elsevier), and is the first systematic, empirical scholarly study of celebrity personality.

When he’s not traveling the country speaking at college campuses, Dr. Drew enjoys playing sports and spending time at home or traveling with his wife Susan and their triplets.
