6. What Are the Risks? Let's Start with Hormone Imbalances.

It's true, on steroids biceps bulge; abs ripple; and quads balloon. But the health risks are high.

Steroids can cause severe acne, greasy hair, and baldness in both guys and girls. They can also throw off a teen's hormone balance, leading to gender-specific side-effects:

Using steroids, guys can experience shrunken testicles, reduced sperm count, and infertility. They can also develop breasts, a condition called gynecomastia.

Using steroids, girls can become more masculine. Their voices deepen. They grow excessive facial and body hair. Their breast size decreases and their menstrual cycle can change or stop altogether.
