Drug this person used or died from: Robitussin DM -- Dextromethorphan
It has been almost 15 years since I last spoke to you and I still think, everyday, what you did.
My best friend, Todd, was drinking 1-2 family size bottles of Robitussin DM every day and he finally succumbed to it and committed suicide. He had everything going for him, a dad who thought the sun rose and set because of him, a mom who loved him with her whole heart, a little sister who idolized him, a ton of friends who would have listened to what he was going through and tried to help, and people he never even met who were scarred by his act. I will never forget the last time I saw him before he killed himself, I knew that something had to happen but I was "too cool" to step up and do the one thing that would get him help. I was afraid I would lose my best friend. And because of the fact I was scared to "narc him out."
I lost my best friend and "twin brother in a different body" forever. Please, if you know someone who is on Robo or anything else and you even suspect that it is out of hand, please get them help. Go to their parents, a coach, a cop, anyone. If you don't because you're "too cool," you might have to carry the same guilt, as I do, with you everyday for the rest of your entire life.
