Americans Say Addiction Tops List Of Nation’s Most Serious Health Problems
One in every four Americans believes drug and alcohol addiction is the nation’s most serious health issue, according to a new survey. Research conducted by Roper ASW for the Council of Public Relations Firms found 26.5 percent of Americans believe addiction is the most serious health problem in America, placing the problem ahead of heart disease, cancer and depression. The survey was based on interviews of 1,014 men and women nationwide. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the largest foundation devoted to improving the health and health care of all Americans, has identified substance abuse as the nation’s number one health problem.
