NEW YORK, July 11, 2007 - The Partnership for a Drug-Free America is pleased to announce the election of Marc Goldstein to its Board of Directors. Goldstein serves as President and CEO for GroupM North America and is responsible for overseeing general management, strategic and administrative activities at each of the unit’s networks including MindShare, Mediaedge: cia, MAXUS and MediaCom.
“Marc is taking this leadership position with the Partnership on the heels of GroupM engineering a historic $1 billion upfront advertising deal with NBC Universal,” said Roy Bostock, chairman of the board of directors for the Partnership. “Marc’s stellar media industry track record will allow him to expose the Partnership to top-tier advertisers and media partners at this crucial time when we are evolving to become a comprehensive resource for parents and families in raising healthy teens.”
Before his current post with GroupM, Goldstein joined MindShare North America as President, National Broadcasting and Programming in November 2000, as one of three executives in MindShare’s Office of the President, to which all MindShare’s U.S. offices report. In April 2002, he was named President and CEO, MindShare North America, with responsibility for all MindShare activities in the 10 U.S. cities and Canada. Goldstein oversaw more than 1,100 people managing over $11 billion in media investments.
“I’m very excited about joining the Partnership’s board at this time, as the organization works toward becoming the premier resource for parents on the critical issue of drug abuse,” said Goldstein. “I’ve admired the Partnership and the important work it does for quite some time. I eagerly look forward to applying my 20-plus years of media experience to tap into all communications channels, including emerging on-line and digital media platforms, to deliver its message to parents and the public at large.”
“For twenty years, parents have come to trust the Partnership to provide useful, research-based information through traditional media outlets,” said Steve Pasierb, president and CEO of the Partnership. “Marc’s reputation in the advertising and media community will allow us to continue expanding our outreach to parents and caregivers. Through comprehensive on-demand interactive resources from the Partnership, parents can connect with one another through online support networks and have honest open dialogues with each other about protecting their kids and keeping them safe. Marc’s strong ties with interactive media outlets will help open new doors for the Partnership in this vital area to ultimately benefit parents and families across the country.”
