A Quiz for Concerned Friends and Family

Think a loved one might have a problem with drugs? Take this quick quiz below and find out some answers. The quiz will allow you think about, access and better understand your loved one's situation. And if help is needed, take action (click here for possible next steps). Keep in mind the test is for your eyes only, so please answer each question honestly.

This quiz is intended for an adult concerned about an adult and addresses drug use.

The questions concern information about another adult's possible involvement with drugs not including alcoholic beverages during the past 12 months. Carefully read each statement and decide if your answer is "Yes" or "No". Then click the appropriate response beside the question.

In the following statements "drug abuse" refers to:

  1. The use of prescribed or over-the-counter drugs in excess of the directions, and
  2. Any nonmedical use of drugs.

The various classes of drugs may include cannabis (marijuana, hashish), solvents (e.g., paint thinner), tranquilizers (e.g., Valium), barbiturates, cocaine, stimulants (e.g., speed), hallucinogens (e.g., LSD) or narcotics (e.g., heroin). Remember that the questions do not include alcoholic beverages.
